Why the Fusion Series?

One of my frustrations in education has been that as dentists and staff, we get information that is either technical or managerial, but not both at the same time. I have always struggled with ways to inspire others to "apply what they already know".

It dawned on me that a technical course that included management, philosophy, and day to day operations in association with the technical information received in continuing education, could bridge the gap of "applying". I have partnered up with a few dynamic leaders in practice management, Kirk Behrendt and Troy Jones CFP. We have put together a series of courses that we conduct together, along with key persons in our day to day operation. This includes the lab assistant, the lab technician and the financial planner.

These courses are dynamic, in that the purpose/management portion is conveyed by Kirk and Troy along with other experts of their field, followed immediately by its application in the treatment room or practice, as described by me.

While I lean towards teaching the technical components of restorative dentistry, Kirk and Troy tie that into everyday operation, management, and philosophy. This "tag team" approach makes the information much more meaningful. This is a must see not just for the doctor but also for the entire staff.

We call this the "Fusion Series" as we are fusing the gap between managerial and technical education. Future courses will include our laboratory technician and the laboratory assistant. It is for the whole staff.

 I think it is a great way to inspire and motivate you and your staff.
