Laser Dentistry
Laser dentistry is one of modern dental medicine's greatest achievements. It allows dentists to perform no-drill, no-pain, germ-free treatments in faster and safer ways that significantly increase the effectiveness of your treatment, while providing you with a more comfortable appointment.
Laser dentistry is used in many cosmetic and general dentistry procedures including decay removal, periodontal treatments, tooth whitening, oral surgery, and hardening tooth restorations. By delivering energy in the form of light, lasers can be used to vaporize different tissues. Depending on the intended result, the laser energy travels at different wavelengths and is absorbed by certain tissues such as enamel, gum tissues and whitening enhancers. Lasers are very specific in regard to the wavelength produced, and as such, different lasers are used for different types of treatment.
One of the major benefits of laser dentistry is that it greatly reduces the need for anesthesia because there is no heat or vibration emitted from the laser, and the area is sterilized while it is being treated. Lasers also significantly diminish painful side-effects, such as discomfort, bleeding, and swelling. Moreover, lasers are incredibly quiet so you can be less anxious and more relaxed in the dentist's chair.
