Implants are placed by doctors skilled in implant dentistry able to place them in a very gentle manner while taking care to the tissues involved. The procedure is often done under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis, so there is very little inconvenience to the patient.
In most cases, the placement of dental implants involves one surgical procedure. First, implants are placed in your jawbone. It takes 6-12 weeks following surgery for your gums to heal around the embedded post and the implants to bond with the jawbone. The entire procedure usually takes two to six months. Most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily life.
Dental implants are more stable and user-friendly than many other teeth replacement options and are likely to be more comfortable, convenient, and stable than dentures. Because the posts that secure dental implants in place are integrated into the jaw, they also help prevent bone loss and gum recession.
